For a twist on the 2+2 skirt I left the pleats out completely and gathered where they would normally be.

2+2=7

It does......really!
Today I finished up the girls 2+2 blouses and I still love this dear little pattern from oliver+s.

Because this is a pattern I would definitely put on a baby boy I resisted my florals and pinks to make Missy M's quite gender neutral.

With the matching skirts I think they are still deliciously feminine.

Missy L chose her usual blues from her(and my) favourite City Weekend.

Miss Z chose an orange floral with gingham trim,I really wanted to use a self trim, but she loved the gingham and I dare say she will cover it with a scarf any way.

I chose a lovely self embroidered white cotton for a 'share' top.

Miss E surprised(and delighted me)by choosing the lovely pink Park Ramble from the City Weekend collection.

I just hope she wears it as my supply is dwindling!

Three 2+2 skirts to finish off and then I will pop this pattern away for a little while.

See,2+2 does =7!

No Sewing as Such...

Lulu is the newest member of our family-she is  neurotic-so she fits in well.....
I was trying to film her going bonkers on her cat pole.
Of course,as soon as I got the camera out she stopped-not going bonkers just scratching!

If the video will not work try here

She charged at me,bit me and then ran through my sewing basket!
thus ''Get out of my sewing''

Jed was very amused that I was more worried about that then my bleeding leg.
But for heavens sake! My Sketchbook  pattern was in that basket!!!!!

Oh No,I've Caught A Man Cold!

Okay, perhaps not quite a ''man cold'',but three weeks of feeling rotten is not much fun.
So being a bear of very little productive brain today I decided to sew all seven 2+2 blouses at once. I figured the slower the better at the moment.

So,the roll call....Two for Missy M both City Weekend
....Two for Missy L again City Weekend
....Three for the Twins, one in City Weekend, one in a orange no-name floral and a third in a white embroidered cotton.

2+2 buttons from dear friends Justine,Peta and Melani

Today I interfaced the back facings and stitched them in place.

That'll do Pig,that'll do.....

2+2 Revisited

I was so pleased with yesterdays effort.
2+2 for Missy Moo
I made another one!

This time, rather then basting the pleats,I stitched them permanently.

Press the pleats in place
I tucked the centre pleat under the nearest side pleats.
The top view
Stitch length marked with tailors chalk
Then I topstitched.

Close up

Inside view

It has a completely different feel to it.

It was a much quicker skirt to make.

Which was good,as today we had to make a trip to the hospital.

Missy L tripped in the school yard and needed stitches in her chin.
She was very brave and Daddy bought her an ice cream.

2+2=Seriously Cute

Still on selfish sewing....
Today I made one 2+2 skirt.

I have five others to make....but to be fair,by the time I swapped threads for each skirt,It was just as quick to sew one.

After basting in the pleats I decided to sew them in, front and back,to save ironing time.

This took some time but it was worth it.

This is a garment that is worth pre-neatening the seams. I used a tiny zigzag and it worked really well.

Inside the placket
To be honest, the placket was fiddly but the pattern warns you that the smaller size skirts need some tweaking!

The sewn seam-a little 'bumpy'
The hem not finished.
With a little snipping and pressing...

Finished hem.

Snipped the slits a teeny bit more..

Some nifty pressing and topstitching
And one of my trusty name labels.....

I got it to sit nicely.

Fastenings

If you like this skirt as much as I do you had better move quick as it is being discontinued.

Next 2+2 blouses...
